Enrichment

We strive to ensure that everybody involved in our school - children, staff, governors, parents and more - feel part of our community. One of our core principles is developing a sense of belonging so that all our learners feel part of the Mayfield community and enjoy the benefits our supportive environment provides.

Enrichment is everything we provide to help your child grow as a whole person. It includes all the activities, clubs, trips, and experiences that help pupils try new things, build confidence, and discover what they enjoy. Enrichment is categorised into five main areas:

Sports and Physical Activities:
For example: participating in individual and team sports, physical activities like dance, fitness activities or cycling, representing the school, attending live events

Arts and Culture:
For example: drama, music, gallery visits, and creative projects.

Nature, Outdoors and Adventure:
For example: residentials, camping, gardening, eco-clubs, time outdoors, climate education and sustainability projects, camps.

Civic and Community Engagement:
For example: volunteering, debating, student council and charity work.

Life and Future Skills:
For example: cooking, managing money, STEM/robotics clubs, and digital skills.

Why It Matters

Enrichment isn't just an "optional extra"—it is designed to boost pupil wellbeing, help them make friends, develop essential life skills (like teamwork and problem-solving), and make school a more engaging place to be.

It is the essential knowledge that our learners need to prepare them for their future success. In addition to the core skills and knowledge we teach, we seek to maximise learning potential so that everyone participates in a wide range of rich experiences across the full breadth of the curriculum.
